Private dental check-ups in Lichfield
Dental check-up
A regular check-up is the simplest thing you can do to protect your teeth and catch any problems before they need more significant treatment.

Dental check-ups at Beacon Park Dental
We've been looking after patients in Lichfield since 2008, and the majority of the people we see have been coming to us for years. That continuity matters, because when your dentist knows your dental history, they're better placed to spot changes early and give you advice that's relevant to you.
At your check-up, we'll take the time to carry out a thorough examination and talk you through anything we find. If further treatment is needed, we'll explain your options clearly and without pressure.

What is a dental check-up?
A dental check-up is a routine appointment with your dentist, usually lasting around 20 to 30 minutes. Your dentist will examine your teeth and gums for early signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer, and take digital X-rays where needed to check areas that aren’t visible during the examination. We'll also update your medical history and note any changes since your last visit.
A check-up is also your chance to ask questions, talk through any concerns or changes you've noticed, and get personalised advice on your brushing routine or anything else affecting your oral health.

How much does a dental check-up cost?
Private dental check-ups are more affordable than many people expect, and when you factor in the time your dentist spends with you and the thoroughness of the examination, most patients feel the difference is worthwhile. You can find our current prices on our pricing page.
If you'd like to manage the cost of your dental care across the year, our membership plans include your check-ups and hygiene appointments and offers a discount on other treatments. It's a straightforward way to make sure your teeth are looked after without an unexpected bill each visit.

Getting a dental check-up at Beacon Park
Get in touch
Call us or book online and Nicky, our receptionist, will find a time that works for you. If you're registering with us for the first time, she'll talk you through what to expect at your first visit.
Your check-up
You'll be seen by one of our dentists. They'll carry out a thorough examination and take you through what they find, clearly and without rushing.
Your next steps
If you don’t need any further treatment, we'll advise when to come back for your next check-up. If we find something that needs attention, we'll discuss the options and agree on a plan together.
Do I need a dental check-up?
For most adults, a check-up once or twice a year is enough to maintain good oral health. Your dentist will recommend the right interval based on the condition of your teeth and gums. Patients with a history of gum disease or decay may benefit from more frequent visits, while those with consistently healthy teeth may only need an annual appointment.
If you haven't seen a dentist for some time, it's worth coming in sooner rather than later. It's very common, and the team at Beacon Park Dental won't make you feel uncomfortable about a gap in your dental care. The important thing is getting a clear picture of where things stand, so we can put together a plan that works for you going forward.
It's also worth pairing your check-up with a hygiene appointment. Regular professional cleaning removes built-up plaque and tartar that brushing alone can't address.

A practice that knows your name
Most of the patients we see at Beacon Park Dental were recommended by someone they know — a neighbour, a family member, or someone from the wider Lichfield community. That kind of recommendation reflects the care we try to provide, and it's something we're proud of.
If you find dental visits difficult, let Nicky, our receptionist, know when you book. We set aside extra time for patients who need it, and your dentist will go at a pace that feels comfortable throughout.
Vicki Hunter, our principal dentist, qualified in 1992 and has owned the practice since 2014. Josh Jackson, our associate dentist, joined in 2022 and has a focus on general and restorative care. Between them, they look after more than 3,300 patients from across Lichfield and the surrounding villages, including Fradley, Burntwood, and Whittington.
