Teeth cleaning at Beacon Park Dental

A professional clean does things that brushing and flossing at home can't. A teeth cleaning will remove plaque and tartar from areas that are hard to reach and protect your gums over the long term. We offer traditional scale and polish as well as guided biofilm therapy.

You don't need to be a registered patient to book, so if you've been meaning to get a professional clean but haven't got round to registering yet, you can still come to us.

What does a dental hygiene visit involve?

A hygiene appointment starts with an assessment of your gum health, followed by a scale and polish. Your hygienist removes hardened tartar from above and below the gumline, polishes away surface staining, and talks you through your home routine — covering anything worth paying closer attention to between visits.

Some patients opt for airflow tooth polishing instead, which uses Guided Biofilm Therapy to detect and remove the bacterial film that builds up on teeth and gums before it causes damage.

How much does a hygiene appointment cost?

The cost of a dental hygiene appointment depends on what kind of teeth cleaning you decide on. You can find up-to-date pricing on our pricing page, and we’ll give you a clear quote before your teeth cleaning too.

If you want to make regular hygiene care more manageable, our membership plans include two hygienist appointments and two routine examinations per year, plus 10% off our other treatments.

How does a hygiene appointment work at Beacon Park Dental?

Booking your appointment

You can book online or by calling us — no registration required.

Your appointment

Your hygienist will assess your gum health, then carry out a professional clean.

Your ongoing care

They'll also talk you through what they find and give you practical advice for looking after your teeth at home.

Do I need to see a hygienist?

If your gums bleed when you brush, you've noticed tartar build-up, or it's simply been a while since your last professional clean, it's worth booking a dental hygiene appointment. Gum disease is common and often symptom-free in its early stages — catching it early makes it much easier to manage.

Even without any obvious signs, a regular scale and polish helps keep your gums healthy and your teeth looking their best.

Private dental hygiene care in Lichfield

NHS hygiene appointments are often short and in high demand. At Beacon Park Dental, appointments are private and never rushed, so you'll have time to ask questions and understand exactly what your hygienist has found before you leave.

Charlotte Sproston, our dental hygienist, holds a BSc and is particularly good with patients who find dental visits difficult. Clare Terry has been providing hygiene and periodontal care since 1986. Both work closely with our dentists, so if anything needs following up, we can address it as part of your wider care.

Your gums will thank you

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults — but it's also one of the most preventable conditions in dentistry. Regular hygiene appointments, combined with a good routine at home, make a real difference over time.

If it's been a while, or you're not sure what your gum health is like, book an appointment and we'll give you a clear picture of where things stand.
